Unit Name: Working with Families and Communities

Description: This course develops students? interpersonal skills and ability to network with community organizations, health officials and families. The course also examines elements in the well-being of children. It requires students to move beyond the notion of early childhood programs considering the status of infant and child health in Fiji and related risk factors. It considers all aspects of health, including nutrition, hygiene, safety, child protection and mental health, and the interaction of these synonymous with preschools, and to adopt the broader perspective of Early Childhood Care and Development.

Prerequisite: N/A

Prerequisite Sentence: The student must have passed Form 7 with 50% in English and Maths or mature age entry with experience in early childhood education as well as competence in one of Fijian, Urdu, Hindi or Rotuman up to Form 2 (Class 8) level.
