Unit Name: Scholarly Review of Literature

Description: This course is designed to equip students with the skills to locate, identify, and select credible sources of information for their research. Students will be guided as to how to navigate and adopt an appropriate structure for writing research articles. In addition, the course will cover aspects of compiling an annotated bibliography and a structured literature review on a topic of student interest. The course will also expose students to various databases from where relevant and current information on a particular topic can be sourced.

Learning Target Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1.2.1 Navigate and use available databases and also become proficient with EndNote.

1.2.2 Evaluate sources in terms of their credibility, bias, relevance, and format.

1.2.3 Scrutinize themes in relevant sources of information.

1.2.4 Synthesize information from different sources.

1.2.5 Compile an annotated bibliography.

1.2.6 Structure and format a literature review to enhance logical flow of information.
