Unit Code: ECI506

Unit Name: Routing, Switching and Wireless Essentials

Description: Welcome to the Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials (SRWE) course. This is the second course in the CCNA curriculum series. It focuses on switching technologies and router operations that support small-to-medium business networks and includes wireless local area networks (WLAN) and security concepts. In addition to learning key switching and routing concepts, learners will perform basic network configuration and troubleshooting, identify and mitigate LAN security threats, and configure and secure a basic WLAN.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Configure devices using security best practices. 2. Implement initial settings, including passwords, IP address, and default gateway parameters on a n/switch and end devices. 3. Apply how network protocols enable devices to access local and remote network resources. 4. Practice how network protocols enable devices to access local and remote network resources. 5. Use numbers between decimal, binary, and hexadecimal systems. 6. Evaluate how media access control in the data link layer supports communication across networks. 7. Implement Ethernet operation in a switched network. 8. Exhibit how routers use network layer protocols and services to enable end-to-end connectivity. 9. Exhibit how ARP and ND enable communication on a local area network.\' 10. Implement initial settings on a router and end devices. 11. Configure an IPv4 subnetting scheme to segment your network efficiently. 12. Configure an IPv6 subnetting scheme to segment your network efficiently. 13. Evaluate how ICMP manages to message between devices. 14. Apply the operations of transport layer protocols in supporting end-to-end communication. 15. Apply the operation of application-layer protocols in providing support to end-user applications. 16. Configure switches and routers with device hardening features to enhance security.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of ECI505 or the old CCNAv6 ECI504 and having completed the new Cisco CCNAv7 RSWE Bridging Course.
