Unit Code: DRE651

Unit Name: Energy Conservation Technology

Description: This unit builds on the basic knowledge of Energy Conservation Technology. This unit focuses on energy-saving technique and their application and utilization. Energy conservation means a reduction in energy consumption but not compromising on the quality or quantity of energy production. Essential theoretical and practical knowledge about the concept of energy conservation, energy management, and different approaches to energy conservation in industries, economic aspects of energy conservation projects and energy audit and measuring instruments in the commercial and industrial sectors will be achieved by this course.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: 1. Identify and analyse well-defined engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity. 2. Conduct investigations of well-defined problems; locate and search relevant codes and catalogues, conduct standard tests and measurements. 3. Demonstrate knowledge of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to engineering technician practice and solutions to well-defined engineering problems. 4. Understand and evaluate the sustainability and impact of engineering technician work in the solution of well-defined engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts. 5. Function effectively as an individual, and as a member of diverse technical teams. 6. Communicate effectively on well-defined engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, by comprehending the work of others, documenting their own work, and giving and receiving clear instructions. 7. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member or leader in a technical team and to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments.
