Unit Name: Advance Metabolic Aspects of Nutrition and Nutrient Analysis

Description: This course is designed to provide students with advanced aspects of nutrition like physiological and biochemical determinants of nutrient need and their metabolism, metabolic interrelationships, role in health and disease.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, student will be able to: 1. Examine the function and metabolic processes of macronutrients and other functional components in food 2. Explain the function and metabolic processes of micronutrients and other functional components in food 3. Analyse relationships between food, nutrients, bioactive food components and human health. 4. Design the analysis of various nutrients in the food samples, population and key guidelines for nutrient intake 5. Evaluate selected study design and assessment techniques and interpret research used for assessing nutrient requirements
