Unit Name: Policies Affecting Food & Nutrition

Description: The course will provide an insight to policy making processes and analysis which is a core responsibility of health managers and the public health nutrition workforce.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, student will be able to: 1. Explain the importance of policy in the field of food and nutrition. 2. Describe the development of policies affecting food and nutrition. 3. Conduct a stakeholder analysis of nutrition policy. 4. Identify key international, regional and local policies affecting food and nutrition. 5. Develop a policy brief on a food and/or nutrition related issue to advocate for policy change to non-nutrition actors. 6. Critically analyse a food and/or nutrition policy to determine the success/ failure of its implementation.
