Unit Name: Advanced Community Nutrition

Description: The purpose of this course is to provide you the opportunity to develop relevant and appropriate intervention activities. Students develop relevant and appropriate intervention activities, including nutrition education and development of information, education and communication (IEC) materials (using relevant computer software) for community nutritional health promotion.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1: Apply best practice frameworks for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of community nutrition and public health interventions by researching appropriate measures from different Pacific Island Countries 2: Develop a plan for an intervention strategy for a public health nutrition problem with defined target group that incorporates behaviour change theory and adult learning theories suitable for clients and groups 3: Create communication messages for specific audiences within community and public health nutrition practice 4: Implement nutrition intervention in the community such as nutrition education and practical home gardening in an ethical and professional manner 5: Reflect on nutrition communication practice and identify ongoing skill development needs
