Unit Code: DNU504
Unit Name: Human Biology I for Dietetics
Description: The purpose of this course is to provide students with knowledge of the human body systems. You will develop an understanding of anatomy and physiology including the organisational levels of the human body and anatomical terminology used. You will explain the role and features of homeostasis in the body and gain an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of systems that provide support and movement and those involved in regulation, integration and control.
Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1: Identify the structural levels of organisation in the body and anatomical structures using anatomical terminology 2: Describe the major anatomical features of the cells, tissues, and organs of the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, endocrine, nervous and special sensory systems 3: Describe the function and physiological regulation of the cells, tissues, and organs of the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, endocrine, nervous and special sensory systems. 4: Discuss the application of human anatomy and physiology relevant to nutrition and dietetic practice.
