Unit Name: Nutrition in Health and Diseases

Description: The course will enhance your understanding on the concepts of \\\"Health\\\" and \\\"Diseases\\\". In the public health arena our focus is the promotion of good health through preventative strategies and diseases are the result of poor health status. Overall, nutrition plays an important role in both the context of preventative and curative health care.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to: 1. Discuss the concept of health and diseases. 2. Explain health promotion concepts and the wellness program. 3. Interpret the nutritional status of the Pacific Island population. 4. Determine the nutrition related diseases that are common in the PICs and their contributing factors. 5. Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of multi-sectoral approach in combating nutrition related problems.
