Unit Name: Engineering Knowledge & Computer

Description: This course provides the student with a basic working knowledge of engine room auxiliaries and helps in better understanding and more cooperation between departments on board.

Learning Target Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this unit, the student is expected to: • Differentiate types of engine propulsion, boilers and steam plant. • Analyze a basic knowledge cooling system , layout of power distribution and steering system on board. • Discuss types of pump used on board, bilge system and safety operation procedure for fire pump. • Analyze and discuss the history of Computing • Demonstrate the basic understanding of different function of Computers • Distinguish the different parts of programs and where applicable they can be utilized.

Prerequisite: Successfully completed DA5 / Class 3 Master
