Unit Name: Leadership and Management for Marine Engineers

Description: This course DME562 is new to Diploma studies. The content covers some of the essential managerial duties of a Marine Engineer as while demonstrating some of the leadership qualities required on board. Some of the definitions are clarified in this week, and several Conventions of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) discussed.

Learning Target Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this unit DME562, the student is expected to: • Demonstrate an effective leadership style on board • Describe best management practices of board • Apply best management and leadership practices to obtain the maximum work efficiency of the crew • Practice effective decision-making techniques for safe and efficient operation of the ship • Determine the requirements for continuous operation of machinery adequate spare parts • Manage engine room recourses for the efficient and safe operation of the ship\"
