Unit Name: Marine Engineering Knowledge General
Description: Engineering Knowledge General (EKG) is considered one of the core subjects for Marine Engineers. Student learn in depth, details abut auxiliary machinery found in a ship at operational level The content of this course follows the recommendation and guide lines of IMO Model course 7.04 (Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch) 2014 Edition. DME 556 is the second part of the EKG delivered at level 5 in line with requirements for the University Diploma. The course is designed for a student who wish to obtain the Diploma in Marine Engineering award by the Fiji National University (FNU) and or obtain the Class 3 Watch keeper Certificate of Competency (COC) from the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF).

Prerequisite: Student shall proceed to DME555 upon successful completion of the unit DME451 Marine Engineering Knowledge General Theory and Practice and completion of stage 3 (EA3).
