Unit Code: DAU611

Unit Name: Automotive Production Technology

Description: The course is designed to allow students to apply quantitative analysis techniques to the solution of manufacturing problems related to special automotive components and the related manufacturing methods. It also allows gaining an understanding of the appropriate processes to specify while designing products for manufacturing.

Learning Target Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the learner can: 1. Analyse and indicate which types of manufacturing processes are suited to producing different components of automotive systems. 2. Examine the concept of a product design specification and be able to indicate the factors which should be included in producing the components. 3. Determine and outline the concept of surface engineering for improving the properties of a component. 4. Determine the technological process of manufacture suited to the production of specific components through critical analysis of the proposed situation. 5. Examine and develop a project on design and product development, considering advanced production technologies. 6. Evaluate the various parts of the operations and production management processes and their interaction with other business functions.
