Unit Code: DAU610

Unit Name: Vehicle Testing and Fault Diagnosis

Description: The unit is designed keeping in consideration the experimental methods and standard test codes used for vehicle and engine testing. Knowledge is imparted on practical test beds with technologies, calibration and installation of a wide range of measurements relevant to engines and vehicle systems, practical aspects of testing and interpretation of results.

Learning Target Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the learner can: 1. Analyze and interpret test results in comparison with manufacturers\\\' data and recommend appropriate repairs. 2. Determine through examination and design engine testing cells under practical considerations. 3. Examine and understand sensors and instrumentation, and to analyse and interpret test data. 4. Apply engineering principles and be able to simulate fuel consumption in standard driving cycles. 5. Understand and be able to quantify the error associated with calibration and measurement. 6. Evaluate a measurement strategy for temperature, pressure, mass flow, velocity, displacement, vibration and emissions.
