Unit Name: Vehicle Body Engineering & Hydraulics

Description: The course is designed to impart knowledge of vehicle body construction and introduce the students to the various vehicle body repair techniques. Also it describes the various loads and forces acting on the vehicle body and allows for development of suitable test methods. It describes the various test methods available to check for the compliance of vehicle construction standards. The unit also has contents on the hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in automotive applications and emphasizes on their fundamental principles, construction and working. The course has basic theory, components sizing, construction and function of fluid power circuits.

Learning Target Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the learner can: 1. Evaluate the body construction features of various types of automotive systems. 2. Examine various methods available for painting vehicle components and illustrate economic choices of paint materials. 3. Formulate a test and implement for the evaluation of loads on vehicle body. 4. Rate through examination the properties and structures of body construction material and trim components. 5. Demonstrate the principles and construction of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. 6. Evaluate and troubleshoot the hydraulic and pneumatic circuits in automotive.
