Unit Code: DAU601

Unit Name: Vehicle Safety and Comfort Technology

Description: The course enables the students to understand the safety aspects in the vehicle through the knowledge in the concept of crumble zone, safety components such as air bags, seat belts, sensors provided in the vehicle to avoid the crash and the safety systems embedded to keep the occupants safe during and after a collision. It also imparts the knowledge of crash analysis and vehicle comfort system and its relevance to occupant protection systems, importance of ergonomics in automotive safety, human response to pedestrians.

Learning Target Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the learner can: 1. Analyse and apply with respect to road vehicle dynamics, stability and handling the various safety aspects of automobile systems. 2. Analyze forces produced and understand the principles of impact phenomena and the measurement of impacts. 3. Evaluate the effects of vehicle impact on the human body so as to design safety systems and safer vehicles. 4. Examine, explain and understand electronic systems in the broader context of vehicle safety. 5. Apply the concepts of engineering to understand and evaluate the comfort and ergonomic aspect of vehicle safety. 6. Evaluate and carry out trouble shooting of air conditioning systems.
