Unit Name: Instrumentations & Measurement in Automotive Engineering

Description: This course deals with measurements and instrumentation in automotive fields. The course deals with topics such as principles. The objectives of this course are to introduce students to the use of various electrical/electronic instruments, their construction, applications, principles of operation, and standards.

Learning Target Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the learner can: 1. Distinguish electronics/ electrical instruments, their use, peculiar errors associated with the instruments and how to minimize such errors. 2. Evaluate the principles applicable to measure the various physical parameters in automotive. 3. Apply the concepts to measure the parameters and rectify the measuring instruments. 4. Experiment for the common physical quantities using common sensors. 5. Convey the kind of instrument suitable for typical measurements. 6. Utilize a PC-based hardware that provides interaction with external signals, sensors and devices.
