Unit Name: Quality Assurance & Industrial Management

Description: The unit imparts working knowledge to determine the quality and reliability of a system and suggest approaches to enhancing system reliability. The unit helps develop the ability in formulating suitable maintenance strategies to achieve reliable manufacturing systems, management and operations. It teaches the fundamentals required to maintain quality in the process and make calculations for the efficient and reliable operation in industrial processes. The course enables students to understand basic principles of management and organization, effective material and personnel management, resource allocation and engineering economy.

Learning Target Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the learner can: 1. Explain the different meanings of the quality concept and its influence. 2. Distinguish the elements that are part of the management process in the industry. 3. Explain and distinguish the quality control and reliability activities. 4. Explain the regulation and the phases of a quality system certification process for industrial management. 5. Apply the appropriate methodology & tools for enhancing the quality of components and systems. 6. Apply appropriate assessment techniques to manage the performance of systems.
