Unit Code: DAU402

Unit Name: Engineering Graphics with Software Application

Description: This course teaches the basics of engineering drawing utilising free hand sketching, mechanical drawing, and computer aided drafting and solid modelling. The fundamental principles of orthographic projection as well as the topics of dimensioning, sectional views, isometric and perspective pictorials views, descriptive geometry and assembly drawings are taught. Computer aided drawings are also created by the application of CATIA.

Learning Target Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the learner can: 1. Determine, use and interpret standard conventions used in engineering drawing. 2. Sketch proper engineering drawing techniques for adequate representation of engineering parts. 3. Apply CATIA and create two and three dimensional drawings. 4. Apply creativity in the design of systems, components or processes appropriate to program objectives. 5. Apply drawing representations with all the details of assembly drawings through freehand sketches, manual drafting and computer aided drawing techniques. 6. Demonstrate the concept of design in 2D and 3D parametric CAD models.
