Unit Name: Information Security

Description: This course provides an in-depth knowledge of existing and future information security related threats, practical means of handling those threats and recommendation for future protection. The main components of this course includes a formal introduction inculcating the necessity of information security, a general view of legal, ethical and professional issues surrounding information security and the course of planning, analyzing, and implementing security at organizational level. Additionally, it includes a general risk management study assessing probability of threats and its occurrence, familiarization of security technology, science of cryptography, physical security considerations, implementation of information security and its maintenance. This courses is designed to train students to become a security expert. The course provides understanding of security development life cycle that includes planning, implementing and maintenance. After completing this course students should be able to implement and maintain security for different organizations and also be able to provide security education to other colleagues.
