Unit Name: Public speaking and Persuation

Description: This course aims to help students become better public speakers through theory and practice. The course covers concepts and models of oral communication, and trains students in adapting a speech for different occasions and audiences, effectively supporting presented ideas, selecting and organizing materials in preparation for a speech, and utilizing multimedia tools in presentations, among other skills. This course is based on persuasion theory, and should be relevant in academic, business, and social settings. Students should become better public speakers and listeners, while thinking about and maintaining ethical standards.

Prerequisite Sentence: Pass in Fiji Year 13 Examination or Certificate IV in Media and Journalism or equivalent.
