Unit Name: Approaches to Communication

Description: This course provides background to the history of communication studies. It examines selected major theories, ideas and models of communication, and analyses the major issues and concerns encompassed in the field. The course provides students with the theoretical framework and methodological tools to approach communication matters systematically and with academic rigour. After successfully completing the course, students will be able to use principles, concepts and distinctions of communication theory to a range of communication situations.

Prerequisite Sentence: Pass in Fiji Year 13 Examination or Certificate IV in Media and Journalism or equivalent.
