Unit Code: CIN607

Unit Name: Human Computer Interaction

Description: This course offers students with the understanding of the factors (psychological, ergonomics, organizational, social etc.) that determines how people operate and make use of computer technology effectively. Students will also learn how to translate this understanding into development of tools and techniques to help designers ensure computer systems are suitable for the activities for which people will use tem in order to achieve efficient, effective and safe Human Computer Interaction (HCI) for individuals and groups.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students should be able to: 1. Evaluate how humans are part of information processing systems and ways of interacting with machines. 2. Demonstrate a good understanding of the range of established and emerging theories, conceptual frameworks and methods of the human aspects of HCI. 3. Evaluate the effectiveness of different devices. 4. Evaluate how user-centred design is changing, how it can be integrated with software engineering and why it is important for HCI design. 5. Evaluate design details. 6. Evaluate how design and evaluation are intermeshed. 7. Evaluate Emotions and Experience
