Unit Name: Nursing Role in Prevent and Control Infectious Diseases in Community
Description: The course begins with understanding the importance of basic epidemiology to appraise health of community. Later the learning outcomes helps you to discuss communicable disease outbreaks, the importance of surveillance and realizing the importance of health team discussions and planning towards problem-solving and decision making during an infectious disease outbreak. The syllabus outlines community assessment, community diagnosis and nursing intervention to address primary, secondary and tertiary preventions to control communicable diseases. Basic epidemiology, health statistics and data management are concepts covered to understand role of community health nurse in disease outbreak situation. Issues pertaining to climate change and disease prevalence is also looked at. The course concludes by giving learners an overview of the process of grant writing for community health projects and programmes for mitigation and adaption for change.
