Unit Name: Environmental Chemistry

Description: The purpose of this unit is to understand the way in which the undisturbed environment (air, soil & water) works, and then study the impact of human activities on these natural systems. Significant attention is given to some pressing issues such as global warming, climate change, and greenhouse effect; with emphasis on their causes and effects. Unit stresses the importance of and methods in, accurate measurement of chemical impact of the human activities with an aim to control and reduce these issues, and preserve the health of the environment for generations. This unit will also discuss the pollutants released into the environment, their chemical reactions in the natural environment and the toxic products formed.
