Unit Code: CFW334

Unit Name: Estimating Welding Costs

Description: The purpose of this unit is to enable the development of knowledge and understanding required for the mathematical calculation and analysis needed in the Fabrication and Welding Trade. These consist of conversion of units, calculating of areas, volumes and even welding cost and bending allowance. Welding-cost estimate is one of the most important tools. It helps in the economic conduction of a welding enterprise. Unfortunately, it is usually an ill understood and poorly applied practice. Understanding the factors affecting welding costs may stimulate to apply serious changes.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to: 1. Calculate areas and volumes of geometric forms. 2. Use Pythagoras\\\' theorem and trigonometry functions to solve industrial-related problems. 3. Convert metric units to imperial or vice versa. 4. Estimate and calculate the cost of welding work 5. Solve simple engineering problems-based Pythagoras theorem. 6. Calculate the spring back 7. Calculate bending allowance
