Unit Name: Manual Metal Arc Welding 1

Description: The purpose of this unit is to enable the development of knowledge, understanding and required for manual metal arc process. Broad understanding of MMAW plant and the five requirements to produce sound weld.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to: 1. Identify welding hazards in the welding site. 2. Demonstrate personal safety, electrical safety, and wear. 3. Practice safe working procedures in confined spaces. 4. Use the Manual Metal arc welding process. 5. Explain the function of the flux coating. 6. Describe the welding circuit. 7. Describe the welding terminology and duty cycle.
