Unit Name: Welding Application of Metals

Description: The purpose of this unit is to enable the development of knowledge and understanding required of engineering materials, their properties, qualification, and identification. How to control properties through heat treatment.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: 1. Define the basic properties of Engineering Material. 2. Correctly identify and select a range of engineering metals and alloys. 3. Correctly select non-metallic materials for engineering applications. 4. Explain the safe working practices for heat treatment process 5. The principles and purposes of heat treatment. 6. Explain how to temper hardened steels. 7. Explain how to anneal and normalize steels.
