Unit Name: Fitting and Machining Process A

Description: This course offers the development of intermediate scientific knowledge and skills required for competency in hand/power tools and machine tools.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Identify the hazards in the workshop environment and develop procedures for safe working practices and the use and care of hand and power tools. 2. Exercise by reading measuring instruments and perform marking out. 3. Relate how to use a grinding machine and demonstrate grinding cutting tools and trueing and dressing the grinding wheel and relate safe working practices in a fitting or machine shop. 4. Explain the properties of taper, taper turning methods.
