Unit Name: Entrepreneurship and Inventory Management Skills

Description: ?This Unit mainly involves the Basics on how to prepare anddevelop a simple business budget, managing expenses and revenues and the importamce of managing conflicts in a workplace. This course is designed as a survey course that will expose you to business terminology, concepts, and current business issues. The intent is to develop a viable business vocabulary, foster critical and analytical thinking, and refine your business decision-making skills. These skills will be acquired by the reading materials, exercises, and research assignments in this course that simulate the workplace today. A major goal of your financial education is to help you become a citizen who can contribute and compete in an increasingly global environment. Elements of this course will focus on multicultural aspects of markets and business. Additional elements will ask you to look at other countries and evaluate the combination of business models and country characteristics. This course aims to meet the needs of students who have a general interest in becoming care givers for the elderly living in Homes, Residential Flats and the Community as well as those intending to choose a career pathway into pathways to overseas care giving opportunities. Fiji is currently experiencing a skills shortage in this area. There is also a marked increase in the number old people in Australia, New Zealand and in US There is a need for more highly trained new workers and up-skilling of existing workers in the care giving industries as the levels people in the young old and the old age increases globally.
