Unit Name: Working Safely and the Importance of standard care plans

Description: Welcome to Certficate IV In Ageing and Community Support Care. Certificate IV in Ageing Support (formally Certificate lll in Aged Care) is specifically targeted at people who currently work in the aged care industry or who are responsible for providing aged care on a daily basis. This course of study will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to provide safe, secure and effective care to elderly people who have complex needs, be it in a residential facility, community or home environment. Students who successfully complete this qualification will also have the expertise required to enhance independence and encourage community participation for the elderly. The Fijian, American, New Zealand and Australian population is ageing at a rapid rate and as a direct result of this, there is an increasing need for trained staff that can meet the complex needs of elderly people. To this end, the Fiji National University, is currently encouraging young people, matured and pre-retired people to pursue aged care course so that they have the skills needed to administer medication, manage teams of staff and develop effective care plans for members of the elderly population.

Prerequisite Sentence: Completion of Year 12 or they may be admitted on the basis of maturity, work experience or prior learning.
