Unit Name: Design of Bridges

Description: Engineers are required to design bridges for transport of goods and public from one place to the other where river widths are ranging from small to large. Typically reinforced concrete, steel and precast bridges are more commonly used for crossing water bodies. This course will introduce you to understand various types of bridges, loading on bridges. Also you will be learning how to design the bridges by utilizing the standards of practice. Also this course will provide you an opportunity to use design software relevant to bridges. At the end of this course students will be able to design different types of RCC bridges, Steel bridges and pre-stressed concrete bridges with the bearings and substructures.
