Unit Name: Aquatic Biodiversity Conservation

Description: This unit allows students to understand about aquatic biodiversity & conservation with special stress on forms of biodiversity. biodiversity of different ecosystems (Terrestrial and aquatic (Fresh water and of sea), biodiversity of wetlands. Effect of pollutants and anthropogenic activities on fish biodiversity. students will be exposed to conservation: role of in situ conservation, ex situ conservation, gene banking conservation: Cryopreservation of gametes and embryos. This unit will familiarize you with the range of living organisms to be found in local ecosystems, the ability to identify the more common species and a appreciation of the structural, behavioural and physiological features which enable the organisms to live and reproduce in the habitats where they are found.
