Description: The purpose of this unit is to provide information on: Nomenclature, types. Classification and interrelationships. Criteria for generic and specific identification. Morphological, morphometric and meristic characteristics of taxonomic significance. Major taxa of inland and marine fishes up to family level. Commercially important freshwater and marine fishes of Fiji. Classification of crustacean, mollusca and echinodermata up to the level of species with important examples. External characters, habit, habitat, morphology, ecology and economic importance of representative types of different classes/orders of phylum arthropoda, mollusca and echinodermata. Ecological, morphological and physiological adaptations) of various animals belonging to phylum arthropoda, mollusca and echinodermata.
