Unit Name: Bank Security

Description: Millions of dollars are lost each year by the banks and merchants when signatures are Forged negotiable instruments. Tellers can prevent losses from forgeries once they learn crime stopping techniques and methods such as signature cards and imaged signatures to help Detect Forgeries. Another crime tellers can help thwart is Counterfeiting. Focus in this course will be instruments and documents tellers receive through the teller windows such as currency, checks and other financial documents as well as forms of identification presented. Students will learn to distinguish between genuine and counterfeit items and what course of action to take when they suspect to receive a counterfeit item. Fraud, Identity Theft and Embezzlement of Funds are usually conducted by con-artist who attempt to deceive innocent, unsuspecting victims out of their hard earned money. Tellers are often the last line of defense against these crimes. The course will also attempt to prepare students both mentally and physically for Security Problems such as Robbery, Bomb Threat, Cyber Threat and Kidnapping.
