Unit Name: Foundation Biology I

Description: The purpose of this course is to provide a basic knowledge on biology. This course covers basic genetic terms and the processes, gene cloning and discuss the cellular organization in prokaryotes and eukaryotes.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Explain the concept of the gene and be able to define basic genetic terms and the processes of protein synthesis and genetic variation. 2. Describe and explain theories relating to natural selection and organic evolution. 3. Describe gene cloning. 4. Discuss cellular organization in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. 5. Explain plant kingdom. 6. Discuss the sub-cellular form of life.
