Unit Name: Introduction to Electric Vehicles and Hybrid Vehicles

Description: This unit enables students to acquire an in-depth knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicles in-line with air quality, global warming, and a decrease in petroleum resources that are becoming major threats to human beings. More and more stringent emissions and fuel consumption regulations are stimulating an interest in the development of safe, clean, and high-efficiency transportation.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: i. Explain the development of various vehicle engines. ii. Describe the fundamental characteristics of hybrid vehicles. iii. Explain the fundamental characteristics of electric vehicles. iv. Identify the major components of hybrid and electric vehicles. v. Apply a range of technical or learning skills in safety context of hybrid and electric vehicles.
