Unit Name: Small Engine Systems Repair

Description: To provide an understanding to the students of the concepts of operation of various implements and accessories associated to small engines and also enable the students to acquire an in depth in practical knowledge of basic faults and its remedies in conjunction with Preventative Maintenance Schedules. Students will also be able to understand the basic fundamentals of the control system and its operation and maintain a proper recording of maintenance work and service records. The learners will be introduced to real industrial equipment and accessories and their diagnostic and rectification process.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: i. Carry out basic repairs to the outboard gearbox and impeller systems. ii. Carry out basic service and assemble mowing implements. iii. Carry out basic repairs and service to the hydraulic pumps and equipment. iv. Identify and carry out repairs to generators and alternators. v. Use electrical testing equipment to carry out tests on generator and alternator components.
