Unit Name: Small Engine Fundamental

Description: This course is designed to introduce students the principles of two and four stroke engine operation and the various systems typically found on a small gasoline lawn mower and brush cutter engine. Students will gain a thorough understanding of engine operation through tasks designed to lead the student through disassembling, inspecting, and reassembling a small gasoline engine.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: i. Explain the construction and basic operation of a two-stroke engine. ii. Draw and label basic diagram of a two and four-stroke engine. iii. Describe the induction and exhaust processes. iv. Dismantle and assemble two-stroke engines. v. Dismantle and assemble four-stroke cylinder engine.
