Unit Name: Automotive Workshop and Procedures

Description: This course is designed to introduce students’ practice workshop safety procedures and demonstrate the use of safety equipment. The course will also give opportunity to students to acquire the necessary skills to be able to identify hazards and assess risk in their workplaces and also develop control measures that are effective to eliminate or reduce the risk to an acceptable level.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: i. Explain the causes of workshop hazards. ii. Explain the control measures needed when working with hazardous substances. iii. Describe the safety procedures for handling hand tools and power tools. iv. Discuss safety practices designed to avoid fire explosions. v. Identify the environmental risks and responsibilities associated with automotive service and repair.

Prerequisite: Minimum Entry Requirements of the programme

Prerequisite Sentence: Year 11 Pass
