Unit Name: Vehicle Mechanical Systems

Description: This course offers a variety of assessment criteria which enhance the ability of the individuals to understand mechanical aspects of Automotive Engineering. It also enables students to acquire basic knowledge on the operation of different system which allows an automobile to function efficiently.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: i. Identify different vehicle body panel designs using serial numbers and patterns. ii. Differentiate engine types and engine classification. iii. Explain the importance of lubrication and cooling systems. iv. Explain the fundamentals of gearing systems and power transfer through various systems. v. Explain the fundamentals of suspension, brake, and steering systems and their operation.

Prerequisite: Minimum Entry Requirements of the programme

Prerequisite Sentence: Year 11 Pass
