Unit Name: Livestock Waste Production and Management

Description: The syllabus covers introduction to manure production by farm animals, the quantity of manure produced per animal, manure collection and storage, manure production management, the biological treatment of manure, use of biodigester to treat manure, chemical treatment of manure, land application of manure, strategies for managing animal waste, other farm waste products and their disposal methods, disposal of other farm waste products, carcasses disposal, management of piggery odour and manure, use of pig and poultry wastes, strategies to achieve air quality in poultry's buildings, dust and fly control in feedlots.
