Unit Name: Animal Ethics, Welfare and Behaviour

Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the study of ethics, also called the study of moral philosophy, which is the study of what is right or wrong, what we ought to do and not to do in all cases, in other words it is the study of a system of moral principles which affect how people make decisions as they encounter ethical challenges or questions in their professional and personal lives. The unit is offered to also create awareness on humane treatment of animals in order to improve the quality of life for animals under the dominion of human being, it also deals with the legal duties of stockman towards satisfying animal's need for a suitable environment (place to live), a suitable diet, allow to exhibit normal behaviour patterns, allow to be in company of other animals and protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease.
