Description: The purpose of this unit is to provide information on: The syllabus covers Introduction, scope, definitions, anatomical terms, directional terms, physiological terms, terms of movements and planes of skeleton,classification of bones and joints,bones of skull,vertebral column,,fore limb, hind limb,ribs, important joints of fore- and hind limbs,avian osteology,muscles and their classification, physiology of muscle function,skeletal muscle contraction, clinical significance, Sructures and functions of nerous system,brain, spinal cord and important peripheral nerves,Structural and functional anatomy of gastointestinal system,regulation of gastroitestinal movement,physiology of digestion in ruminants and non-ruminants,Respiratory system:structural anatomyof respiraory apparatus,mechanism of respiration in animals,avain respiration,nonrespiratory functions of respiratory system, Cardiovascular System:Heart and pericardium,important arteries,veins and lymphatic system,cardiac contractibility,heart sound,heart rate,blood pressure, physiologyof circulation,blood, its composition and function,mechanism of blood coagulation and haemostasis,Urinary System:Gross anatomy of kineys and urinary bladder,formation of urine,glomerular filtration,micturition,characteristics of urine of animals, avian urinary system, physiology of body temperature regulation of animals,hyopothermia and hyperthermia,Male reproductive system: anatomy and function of male reproductive system,blood and nerve supply,semen production and its composition,erection,mounting,intromission,emission and ejaculation, factors affecting testicular function,Female reproductive System:Anatomy and function of female system,hormones of female reproduction,estrous cycle, pregnancy,parturition,functional anatomy of mammary glands,lactogenesis and lactation,composition of milk,Endocrine system: Function of different endocrine glands ie pituitary, thyroid, pancreas,adrenal gland,body,anatomical terms for mouth and teeth.
