Unit Name: Social Research Methods I

Description: This course introduces the student to the forms, purposes and science of social research. The course attempts to familiarize students, at the beginning of their undergraduate studies, with some of the theoretical issues as well as some of the practical aspects of social research including the basic skills required in the research process. These basic research skills range from conceptualizing and contextualizing the research problem, collecting, organizing and analyzing data, to reporting the results. Throughout this course, ethical issues related to the entire research process will be considered.

Prerequisite Sentence: The student must have completed Fiji Form 7 with a pass above 50% in English or equivalent.
