Unit Name: Anatomy

Description: This course is designed to provide students with the basic concepts of human anatomy as an integral part for health sciences. Human anatomy course is designed to present the basics of anatomy for the purpose of providing the student with the background necessary for their future studies. The broad goal of the teaching of undergraduate students in anatomy is to make them understand the external and internal structures of the body, their interrelationship and functional importance. It also helps them to communicate better with clinical colleagues using appropriate anatomical terms and medical language.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Describe the gross anatomy, normal structure and functions of different systems of the human body from molecular to cellular to organizational level. 2. Use appropriate anatomical terminology and nomenclature to communicate effectively. 3. Relate the structure and the function between and within organs and organ system. 4. Correlate the knowledge of anatomy to understand the anatomical site of action of drugs in different disorders.

Prerequisite: Pass in Year 13 examination (or equivalent) and as per Minimum Entry Requirement (MER).
