Unit Name: Digital Techniques 3

Description: This module is to familiarise the student with the characteristics of the fundamental building blocks of digital electronic circuits and systems. This will provide the student with the underpinning knowledge necessary to carry out safe maintenance, servicing, testing and fault diagnosis on a wide range of aircraft digital systems.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to; a) Define terminology related to computers b) Describe the terms associated with and the operation of ROM\'s. c) Describe the terms associated with and the operation of RAM\'s. d) Describe the terms associated with and the basic operation of memory storage devices e) Describe the terms associated with the purpose and operation of digital to analogue converters f) Describe the types, operation and uses of various digital displays. g) Define the terms associated with and describe the layout, operation and interfacing of a basic microcomputer h) List the function performed and describe the operation of a microprocessor.
