Unit Name: Digital Techniques 1

Description: This module is to familiarise the student with the characteristics of the fundamental building blocks of digital electronic circuits and systems. This will provide the student with the underpinning knowledge necessary to carry out safe maintenance, servicing, testing and fault diagnosis on a wide range of aircraft digital systems.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this module, students will be able to; a) Identify ESD sensitive devices, describe the sources of ESD\\\'s and the special handling requirements required for ESD\\\'s. b) Describe the basic construction and operation of Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT\\\'s) c) Differentiate between digital and analogue systems d) Describe and perform conversions using various number systems. e) Perform digital maths calculations using various number systems. f) Describe the operation of and test logic gates and describe the operation of and test combinational logic circuits g) Describe digital integrated circuit families.
