Description: This module is to familiarise the student with the principles of primary and secondary cells, operation of Lead Acid Batteries, Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cad) Batteries and their maintenance.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to; a) describe the construction and the principle of operation of primary and secondary cells. b) describe the operation of Lead Acid Batteries and their maintenance. c) describe the operation of Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cad) Batteries and their maintenance. d) describe battery room procedures for the maintenance of secondary cells and batteries.
