Description: This module aims to familiarise the student with the characteristics of the fundamental building blocks of electronic circuits and systems.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to; a) Describe the structure and characteristics of semiconductor materials. b) Describe the operation and characteristics of a PN junction. c) Describe the functions, identification and terminology of basic PN diodes. d) Describe the construction, operation and biasing requirements of Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs)
